From Curaçao, the VAB members EY, Grant Thornton, HBN, BDO and Baker Tilly will come to Rotterdam to present themselves personally and give workshops. On behalf of the VAB, chairman Arthur van Aalst explains: “There is a major shortage of highly trained accountants and tax specialists in both the public and private sectors. We will do everything we can to make it clear to students or country graduates that they are very welcome and that there are plenty of opportunities to build a wonderful career after their studies in the Caribbean jurisdictions.” The Foundation Tax Accountants Bureau Curaçao and the Public Entity Bonaire will also present themselves at the Business Day.

WeConnect is pleased to work with Young Tax Talent, a platform of Caribbean students and young professionals with a background in tax consultancy and accountancy. “Young Tax Talent is right in the middle of the target group and knows exactly where the challenges and needs lie when it comes to considering returning to the islands, during or after the study”, explains WeConnect manager Tanja Fraai. Young Tax Talent chair Nicole Lew Jen Tai is also enthusiastic about the Business Day: “We believe it is important to motivate students and professionals while at the same time adding value to each other’s personal and professional growth. We also want to highlight the need for professionals within the Caribbean and motivate our island children to return to the islands after their studies.”
