WILLEMSTAD – Curacao finally has its very own rooftop bar and restaurant – Cascada Rooftop Bar + Kitchen – where visitors and residents alike can now enjoy unbeatable views of the island and mingle over friendly tapas and inspired cocktails! Cascada, located on the 5th Floor of the Elements Hotel & Shops, features a seemingly endless 360° view of the island and has become the hottest must-visit destination for anyone looking to soak up the island’s charm (from high above). Cascada’s approximately 4,000-square-foot rooftop is perfect for a relaxed and laid-back time with friends or an intimate date. This is my account for my first visit to this glamorous new spot!

Sitting atop a tall building, Cascada might be easy to miss- that is until you look up from Hendrikplein and notice a stunning infinity edge pool with a waterfall! Excited by what it could be, I walked into the Elements Hotel & Shops and made my way to the top. The elevator doors opened and I was awe-struck! I was greeted by a beautifully decorated open-air rooftop terrace, flanked by a stylish and modern bar/kitchen (on the left) and a full lounge (on the right) – both, accented by rows of parasols, mood-setting lighting, solid teak furniture, Sunbrella cushions and lush local foliage. It was easy to see the high-quality experience one will receive. The effect is hard to define, but I immediately felt my Curacao can now rival Miami or Dubai.

If you can overcome your fears of heights, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views overlooking Punda, the Queen Juliana bridge, and the South Caribbean Sea. You will experience Curacao with a new perspective and fall in love with the beauty, culture, and charm of our beautiful island all over again. The best seats in the house (if you’re lucky to grab it) are definitely the daybeds by the infinity pool. Grab some cocktails, lay back, look out to the sea and watch mother nature’s beautiful sunset show. Don’t forget your swimsuit, so you can dip in the infinity pool and wave to the day trippers who roam Punda’s historic and colorful streets below. The experience is perfect for over-the-top views that will make your social media posts the envy of all. The other guests were equally excited by their experience, and Cascada proved to be the perfect destination for both tourists and residents who are looking for a glamorous and fun evening of music, cocktails, and great food (or the place to go to when you’re trying to impress!).

Views aside, Cascada also shines with their delicious tapas-style food, fun cocktails, and (very importantly) professional and friendly service. Throughout the night, I found that the service staff was on point. They welcomed me, were constantly attentive, guided me to their favorite menu items, with big smiles on their faces, that I felt thoroughly looked after and cared for. I enjoyed the small bites, and special standouts worth mentioning include the “better than KFC” Korean Fried Chicken, the mouth-watering Slider Trio, and the Chef’s Special Tenderloin (cooked to a perfect medium-rare and served with an amazing red wine reduction sauce). Vegans and vegetarians are not forgotten. The Watermelon Salad I could eat all day, and I am still dreaming of those Cascada Cheeseballs. The menu emphasizes sharing and exploration. We can’t forget about the drinks! The creative cocktails were just as satisfying – namely, the whimsical glitter Kunani shot, the refreshing Starburst, and the daily changing cocktail of the day! The team behind the bar was knowledgeable and had heaps of fun with their cocktail-making theatrics.

Overall, Cascada is an exciting new addition to our lively downtown. Replete with a full lounge (including a hookah service), decadent flora, and striking Punda and Otrobanda views, I highly recommend you add this to your must-visit places. Be ready to enjoy its hip clientele, crowd-pleasing food, and epic views you can’t find anywhere else on the island. It will surely be an exciting visit for all tourists, and a place you can impress anyone who’s anyone! Reservations are recommended, but not required. During its soft opening, they are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 6 pm to 11 pm (weekends go till late). When they officially launch in mid-December, the service will expand to all-day service, from 11 am to 11 pm daily. Keep an eye on their Instagram @cascadacuracao for all important updates. Truth be told, I am looking forward to hanging out here all day in the sun.
