– The Tax and Customs Administration has cleaned up its file. As a result, the tax on the street has been reduced by 473 million. It concerns more than 235,000 assessments that are time-barred. This is reported by the Ministry of Finance.
The Tax and Customs Administration itself has chosen not to go after these overdue taxes. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, the Tax and Customs Administration wants to treat all taxpayers equally. Not everyone is familiar with the concept of limitation or can afford a tax advisor. Secondly, the decision relieves the pressure on the tax authorities. The requests for limitation do not have to be assessed individually, leaving more capacity for the collection of more recent tax debts.
