– The emergency consultations at the initiative of the Curaçao Association of General Practitioners (CHV) have not yet led to the requested solutions. On Tuesday morning, all general practitioners who were members of the association met in the Bon Biní Business Center. The emergency meeting took place after dissatisfaction with the years of struggle to introduce evening-night-weekend care (ANW care).

Those present included Prime Minister Pisas and Finance Minister Javier Silvania. The conspicuous absentee from the meeting was Minister Pietersz-Janga, who is currently considering the continuation of her position after her party lost confidence in her as minister last weekend.

For years, GPs have been arguing for the establishment of a GP post, so that ANW care remains of high quality, without GPs working 48-hour days. The agreement was that a solution would be found on March 1 this year, but according to the GPs present, nothing has changed yet.

Jerry Semper, chairman of CHV, says that the availability of GPs in a GP center during ANW hours ensures that patients receive timely and high-quality healthcare, leading to better health outcomes.
