Interruptions and question hours in Curaçao parliament may be possible as early as this month

WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers of Curaçao has approved the draft national decree which regulates an amendment to the Rules of Procedure of Parliament. This formally clears the way to allow interruptions during meetings and question hours in parliament.

The Council of Ministers of Curaçao has approved the draft national decree which regulates an amendment to the Rules of Procedure of Parliament. This formally clears the way to allow interruptions during meetings and question hours in parliament. 

 

With the latter, ministers can be questioned orally in parliament every two weeks. At the end of last year, Parliament approved the amendment to the Rules of Procedure.

Until now, parliamentarians are allowed to give uncontested monologues and discussions are not allowed. The consequence of not being allowed to pick up on what colleagues brought up was that questions often remained unanswered or were answered evasively. That should be over now.
