According to Prime Minister Pisas, yesterday’s work stoppage did not send a good signal to the Netherlands. It shows our division, while the government is also in favor of phasing out the 12.5 percent salary cut and the subsidy discount for foundations.

Pisas wants to start a relaxation next year in line with agreements with the Netherlands. He does not understand the impatience of the unions. Wages will be indexed in 2024, provided inflation does not exceed two percent. There will also be a wage step and a three percent lump sum for civil servants at their maximum.

The Netherlands will only allow this relaxation if the law on the standardization of top incomes has been published. Pisas is hopeful that the two, the standardization and the 12.5% cut will be dealt with separately, as the unions want. State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen of Kingdom Relations must now make a decision.
