While this is high, no new record has been broken. In 2010, storm Tomás caused 180 millimeters of water to fall in the first ten days of November. It will remain rainy for the next few days with high humidity.

The cause of the heavy rainfall is La Niña. The weather phenomenon is an amplification of the usual weather. The trade winds around the equator are stronger than usual. Areas around the equator that are normally wet become even wetter and dry areas become even drier. There are also more hurricanes.
