In a significant step toward deepening regional ties, Curaçao is hosting an official delegation from La Guajira, Colombia, as part of an ongoing effort to expand bilateral cooperation between the two regions. The visit follows a recent working trip by Curaçao’s Sector BES to the Colombian cities of Bogotá and Riohacha, during which both parties evaluated the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Curaçao and the municipalities of Riohacha, Dibulla, and Maicao.
The Colombian delegation, led by Governor Jairo Alfonso Aguilar Deluque, arrived on the island on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and will remain until Saturday, May 17. The 12-member delegation includes high-ranking officials such as Rafael Zúñiga, Secretary of Tourism; Zuelly Manjarrez, Secretary of Economic Development; Charles Aguilar, Advisor to the Governor’s Office; and Yessit Medina, Director of Grupo Empresarial Gran Caribe. The group is joined by both public and private sector representatives.
