As we near the signing of a Heads of agreement, that will ultimately lead to signing a lease contract for the oil refinery, CPR, in good faith, rented the storage facilities at Bullenbaai in order to act as a service provider that facilitates third-party storage services. It is CPR’s way to show partnership and commitment to this community. In this role, CPR does not engage in the business of selling crude oil or of any product derived from crude oil.

CPR is aware of the publication claiming that a shipment of oil from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Curaçao in the tanker “Colon”, is a way to aid the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in bypassing current sanctions on their oil business. This information is inaccurate. The product in question was a payment for an outstanding debt that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has to a third party. The only relation CPR has with this specific third party is the relationship a storage service provider has with a client renting storage facilities.

It is important to note that the current sanctions imposed on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela do not prohibit the country from paying off its debts to third parties with crude oil or products derived from crude oil. The sanctions forbid business between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its state-owned entities on the one hand and US entities and its citizens on the other hand.

CPR remains positive, pending the signing of the necessary contracts to continue creating a greater impact for Curaçao. CPR will continue to provide its services and comply with international regulations and sanctions in place and propel positive development to the economy of Curaçao.
