Complaint filed against Minister of Education

– Political activist Elvis de Andrade went to the National Investigation Department on Monday to file a complaint against the Minister of Education Sithree van Heydoorn.

According to the activist, Van Heydoorn would have violated the screening law because of his position as chairman of the largest coalition party. De Andrade’s other complaint has to do with the procedure of the design competition for the new national emblem. In October, there was a lot of fuss about the new emblem because it was possibly composed of images from photo database Shutterstock.

An investigation into plagiarism by the winner is currently underway. De Andrade holds the minister responsible for the emblem fiasco. In addition, the activist wants the public prosecution to start an investigation into irregularities at a foundation with which Van Heydoorn would have good ties. It is not known which foundation it is.

De Andrade is no stranger to the National Investigation Department. He was one of the first to go to the Public Prosecution Service because of the forgery of the financial documents that the former investor of Curaçao Petroleum Refinery (CPR) allegedly supplied.
