– The tension within the ‘Block of 5 unions’ continues to rise. The ‘bloki di 5′, which is in talks with the government within the Central Organized Consultation in the Civil Service (CGOA), still wants to eliminate the 12.5 percent salary cut earlier than in January 2024.
The position of various unions regarding the salary cuts of civil servants is one of the reasons for the friction within the block. The unions want this condition from the Netherlands for corona support to be abolished earlier. Tension continued to rise after the ABVO decided to step out of the ‘block of 6’. The ABVO says it disagrees with the way the other unions act. The union went its own way after STrAF, NAPB and SAP postponed a meeting with the CGOA.

This postponement would not have been reported to the Central Committee of the Trade Unions (CCvV). That did not go down well with the ABVO. The CCvV consists of trade union organizations supporting government employees’ interests.

Due to the postponement of the meeting of the CGOA, the deadline for the arbitration committee has expired. In response, the government sent a so-called letter of commitment. The letter contains proposals that the government makes to the trade unions within the CGOA. The government asks that consultation on eliminating the salary cut continues. Several unions have their doubts about this. In addition, the government has asked the arbitration committee for advice.

Furthermore, there would be a separation between the unions in the block and outside the block. This separation results in tension in the CGOA when the CCvV comes together.
