The introduction of a new national ordinance is one of the conditions imposed by the Netherlands in order to be able to phase out the 12.5 percent cut on the employment conditions of civil servants.

The bill assumes a maximum salary of 295,000 guilders for large public companies and 227,000 guilders for small entities. Van Huffelen agrees insofar as those amounts correspond to a margin of 130 percent compared to the Prime Minister’s salary.

The transitional arrangement will remain for two years, although Silvania wanted to make it five years. But Van Huffelen states that the two-year term is based on the financial and economic circumstances of the country of Curaçao, and according to the State Secretary, these still apply.
