Air Belgium definitively stops flights to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD

– Air Belgium will no longer fly to Punta Cana and Curaçao from March. The airline confirms this to the website Luchtvaartnieuws.nl.

Until mid-January, there will be flights to both destinations once or twice a week. A number of flights will also take place during the spring break, but after that Air Belgium will terminate the scheduled service to Curaçao and Punta Cana.

The reason for the cessation of flights is the high fuel prices and aviation taxes on the Dominican Republic. According to a spokesperson, Curaçao would not attract enough Belgian travelers to qualify for direct flights.

Earlier this month it was announced that KLM will also cancel a large number of flights to Curaçao. The airline is forced to reduce the number of flights in the period from December to March due to the staff shortage at Schiphol. The announcement of Air Belgium is again a downer for the island.
